Summary:M2 PRESSWIRE-31 May 2001-Sun Microsystems: Java Community Process 2.0 program sets new milestone with process and technology development advancements; Java Community Process 2.0 program ideally positioned to successfully meet the challenge of web empowerment (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD PALO ALTO, CA -- The Program Management Office (PMO) of the Java Community Process program today issued its first year Java Community Process 2.0 report. The report affirms the success of JCP 2.0, the current version of the Java Community Process program, its steady evolution as a community process and strong results in delivering content-rich Java technology specifications at web speed. The Java Community Process program, the open, community-based process for the development of Java technology specifications, reference implementations and associated technology compatibility kits, successfully transitioned last year to Java Community Process 2.0. One year after its launch, the Java Community Process 2.0 is proving to be a better, smoother process than its prior version and is fully delivering on its mission to evolve Java technology through community-developed Java specifications, ensure compatibility and respond to the needs of the international community of Java technology developers with which it shares innovations fostered under the process. "The new Java Community Process 2.0 has made it easier to work with the Java technology community and respond at Web speed to the needs and interests of the industry," said George Paolini, chair of the Java Community Process program. "The Java Community Process has successfully balanced industry demand for compatibility and open standards-based technology with the need for rapid technology innovation. The results are high quality specifications that hold the promise of taking us to the next phase of delivering enhanced network services."
