| Zusammenfassung: | JavaOne[sm] Developer Conference -- In a move that solidifies its position as the industry leading platform for e- commerce solutions, Sun Microsystems, Inc. today announced that the number of licensees for its Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE[tm] technology) has grown to 19. The newest licensees of J2EE technology are Fujitsu, IONA, MERANT, Inprise/Borland, and OrbWare. Also, clearly demonstrating the power of Write Once, Run Anywhere[tm] for all to see, Sun and seven other vendors demonstrated the same application running across eight different products in the J2EE Deployathon. Additionally, Sun announced the drafts of two key technologies are now available in draft form, and the release of J2EE technology on Linux. "Sun's J2EE technology is being quickly adopted by leading enterprise developers as part of their new strategies based on open, progressive standards," said Rich Green, vice president of Java Software Development at Sun Microsystems. "Our development team is working within the JCP program to ensure that the open and compatible nature of J2EE technology remains strong in future versions through industry participation in its development." Broad Industry Adoption and Recognition A significant number of leading enterprise software companies have licensed J2EE technology since December 1999, further solidifying J2EE technology's position as the platform of choice for enterprise solutions. These enterprise developer companies include: Art Technology Group, BEA Systems, Inc., Bluestone Software, Inc., Compaq Computer Company, Fujitsu Limited, GemStone Systems, Inc., Hitachi, Ltd., InterWorld, Inprise/ Borland, IONA, MERANT, Oracle Corporation, Orbware, Persistence Software, Inc., SAS Institute, Inc., SilverStream Software, Sybase and iPlanet[tm] E-Commerce Solutions, a Sun-Netscape Alliance and others. iPlanet has also announced that it has passed Sun's compatibility test suite, which is required to receive the J2EE technology brand, and is shipping its new J2EE technology-based iPlanet Application Server 6.0. J2EE on Linux: Complete Enterprise Coverage Sun highlighted its commitment to providing Java technology across all enterprise operating environments with the release of J2EE technology on Linux. J2EE technology v 1.2.1 on Linux is now available for download at http://java.sun.com/j2ee. J2EE technology is now supported on Windows, the Solaris[tm] Operating Environment, and Linux. The availability of J2EE technology on Linux underscores Sun's commitment to providing developers with compatible Java technology across all major enterprise operating environments.
