| Zusammenfassung: | According to a study by Meta Group, more than 75% of business users will require some remote/mobility capability by the year 2000. According to vendors, users, and VARs, aside from salesforce automation, most current applications are poorly suited to the task, leaving a golden opportunity for integrators. While users say replication is getting better than the early days, it still can be a hassle. Cloudscape Inc., a startup that is shipping version 1.5 of its Java database management system, said it has refined the synchronization and replication problem to solve many of the complaints. The new scheme, due to ship in 1999, prevents conflicts from occurring. For all the possibilities of mobilizing applications, technical hurdles remain. According to VARs, since applications were not meant to be mobile, each project involves a lot of custom work. |
