| Shrnutí: | An attempt is made to determine a starting point for the identification, compilation, & discussion of problems experienced during the instruction of functions in a communicative approach (CA) to language learning. Functions are believed to form an integral part of natural discourse in CA. Problems discussed include neglect of teaching methods, confusion concerning CA material, disregard for the learning process during the teaching process, unproductive phrase book knowledge, the unsuccessful productive phase, controversy relating to grammar in CA & reconciliation of the opposing constructs, accuracy, & fluency. 54 References.
