| Shrnutí: | In this article we have brought some archaic features that Cham Albanian dialect as a peripheral dialect still preserves them as such. We have brought examples from all subsystems of language, phonetics, morphology and less from syntax. Regarding the Cham Albanian dialect the examples have been collected from all the individuals that still speak it and from Cham songs. This enabled us to compare the earliest known texts in Albanian written by authors, such as L. Matranga, northern authors, in particular the "Meshari" by Gjon Buzuku (1555) and "The Band of the Prophets" (1685) by P. Bogdani with the dialect of Arbëreshë people living in Greece and Italy. The comparative approaches lead us to the conclusion that the Albanian language has been more uniform and its dialects were closer than they are today. |
