Summary:As the world's largest archipelagic country, Indonesia places a significant reliance on its fishing sector, which plays a pivotal role in the national economy and the well-being of local communities. Operational challenges frequently confront Indonesian fishermen, including concerns pertaining to safety, efficient navigation, and communication at sea. The Automatic Identification System (AIS) represents a potential solution to these challenges. Nevertheless, the implementation of AIS technology among traditional fishermen remains constrained by a dearth of technical comprehension and the challenges associated with utilising existing devices. Consequently, a mobile-based AIS application has been developed using and User-Centered Design (UCD) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Design approaches, with the specific aim of addressing the needs of Indonesian fishermen. The chi-square test results also support these findings, showing a significant association between ease of navigation and satisfaction levels (\chi^{2}=30.00,\ \mathrm{p}=0.00044) . These results highlight the significance of an intuitive and user-friendly interface design in enhancing fishermen's satisfaction with the AIS application. It is, thus, recommended that the main focus of application development should be on improving ease of navigation and providing relevant and useful features. This study offers invaluable insight that will inform the further development and implementation of an effective AIS application for Indonesian fishermen.
