Zusammenfassung:In this paper, modeling of DC motor has been done using MATLAB and its speed is controlled by implementing PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) controller on FPGA platform. The hardware used is Spartan-3E (XC3S250E) FPGA board, DC Motor module and ADC. The software tools used are MATLAB, Xilinx ISE 8.1i and Model-Sim SE-EE 5.4a.The PWM signal acts as an input signal for DC Motor. Optical Encoder has been used in feedback path whose output is fed back as an input to the PID Controller. The code has been written in Hardware Descriptive Language, and synthesised by Xilinx ISE 8.1i tool. The results are first simulated and then implemented on FPGA board. Performance analysis of PID Controller step responses has been done using MATLAB.
