| Summary: | Data security is a crucial aspect in the digital era, especially in protecting sensitive information from potential leaks. This study develops a web application for client-side file encryption and decryption using the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) with a 256-bit key. The application is built with the React.js library and uses IndexedDB to store file metadata locally. This client-side approach aims to increase users' control over their data without server involvement, thereby reducing security risks from third-party access. The study employs a prototyping development method and black-box testing to assess functionality and evaluate system security against brute-force attacks, network traffic monitoring, and reverse engineering. Results show the application effectively performs encryption and decryption, supports multiple file formats, and can operate as a Progressive Web App (PWA). It also preserves data security by not transmitting sensitive information to a server, making it an efficient and secure web-based data protection solution. |
