A Grid is a very large scale, generalized distributed NC system that can scale to Internet-size environments with machines distributed across multiple organizations and administrative domains. The resource management system is the central component of an NC system. There have been many projects focused on NC that have designed and implemented resource management systems with a variety of architectures and services.
