Shrnutí:Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) could pose a threat to nurse practitioners (NPs) and other health care providers. Transmission occurs most commonly among close contacts of acutely ill SARS patients, and clinicians have borne the brunt of the infections. The consequences of unrecognized SARS in the hospital setting are highlighted here using observations from an outbreak at a single hospital in Taiwan that resulted in 117 cases and 20 deaths.
