Die eienskappe van kommunikatiewe onderrig word uiteengesit. Dit word opgevolg deur 'n uiteensetting van onderrigmetodes wat onder meer die volgende insluit: samestelling van 'n vloeidiagram; redigering van taalhandelinge; aanduiding of taalhandelinge formeel of informeel is; uitwysing van irrelevante woorde; transformasie; uitbreiding; integrasie; herformulering; sametrekking; eggo van taalhandelinge; soeke na onpare; voorsiening van ontbrekende inligting; diktee; konstruering van 'n dialoog na aanleiding van 'n parafrase en 'n sekwensie van prente; en, ten slotte, 'n rolspel.
