Zusammenfassung:The paper analyzes the approaches, methods and techniques for studying households of the early medieval Bohai state (698–926) and makes a division of the concepts of «dwelling» and «household», which is considered as the basis for paleoeconomic and social research in the archeology of Bohai state. The author substantiates the criteria for using the eco-social approach to study the issue and provides an analysis of its main components as applied to Bohai materials.
