| Abstract (English): | The study aimed to describe the demographic characteristics and the biosecurity practices adopted in trout farms in four provinces of the La Libertad region, Peru. A survey was conducted between November 2023 and April 2024, collecting data from 30 fish farms. Biosecurity practices were grouped into six domains: water management, management of production units, management of early life stages, record-keeping systems, equipment and personnel exchange, and pest control. Each domain was evaluated and scored numerically according to its degree of implementation. Seventy percent of the farms shared water sources with others and used the same equipment and materials across ponds, without implementing disinfection measures for personnel or vehicles prior to entering the facilities. Disinfection practices for eggs and production units were uncommon, with implementation frequencies of 11.8 and 16.7%, respectively. Ninetythree percent of fish farmers reported observing clinical signs in their fish. It is concluded that rainbow trout farms in La Libertad exhibited significant gaps in several biosecurity domains, particularly in access management, pest control, record-keeping systems, and the management of early life stages, production units, and water.
