| Popis: | The aim of this chapter is to give an overview of the most important French–Hungarian general dictionaries, published since 1844, as well as to present a comparative study of their microstructure, especially from the point of view of the different types of examples provided in the entries. The study focuses on entries of frequent and semantically overloaded verbs, namely aller, avoir, devoir, être, faire, laisser, mettre, pouvoir, prendre, rendre and venir, the use of which often being illustrated by numerous examples – due to the polysemy and high frequency of these verbs in different contexts. Among other things, it can be noted that the evolution of the entries over time does not automatically mean an improvement or the enrichment of the qualities. The study also comments on the choice and the quantity of examples in the dictionaries, while analysing the functions and the purpose of the different examples. As for the quantity of examples, the analyses shown also include a comparison with other bilingual dictionaries having French as the source language. Finally, some entries are analysed in more detail to illustrate the difficulties arising from the fact that Hungarian and French are not related languages. |
