Popis: This paper presents a discourse analysis of responses to a survey conducted with guardians of children from three Swedish preschools. Two questions are elaborated on: (1) What Discourses occur in guardians’ communication about digital tools in preschool? and (2) What are the implications of these Discourses for mathematics education in preschool? Four construed Discourses show diverse views on digital tools, with most guardians taking a positive view as long as these tools are used in such a way that children become producers of content, not consumers. This is in line with research highlighting the importance of focusing on how digital tools are used rather than on for how long. The study shows the importance of preschools clearly communicating when, how, and why digital tools are used in preschool.
