Popis: The present article tries to approach the scope of penitentiary victimization, a topic almost unexplored by researchers. First of all, it is part of the Victimology, as a scientific discipline possessing the necessary tools to delimit the phenomenology and characteristics of penitentiary victimization; secondly, it includesa brief analysis of the profiles of the Spanish prison population; and third, there is an analysis ofthe previous variables in the context of penitentiary victimization, proceeding to its conceptual delimitation and analysis of its main typologies, focused on the institutional scope and the victimization itself.
