Popis: North Amuntai Subdistrict is one of the subdistricts in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency, where most of its villages are situated along riverbanks. A considerable portion of the population still engages in open defecation directly into the river, as evidenced by the numerous latrines built along the riverbanks. Out of the 26 villages in the subdistrict, 7 have not yet been declared Open Defecation Free (ODF), despite the existence of a local regulation—Hulu Sungai Utara Regency Regulation No. 04 of 2016—which prohibits open defecation through the Stop BABS (Stop Open Defecation) movement. This study aims to examine how the sanitation policy (Hulu Sungai Utara Regency Regulation No. 04 of 2016 on the Stop BABS movement) is being implemented in North Amuntai Subdistrict, to identify the challenges in its implementation, and to explore the efforts or solutions employed to overcome these barriers. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, using observation, interviews, and documentation techniques.
