| Popis: | Photographs of BJC Commercial Arts students and their projects ; The Commercial Art Department of Bismarck Junior College provides a two year vocational course is the field of advertising art - techniques and production methods, At graduation time, the student is expected to have achieved skills qualifying him for anyone of some 50 or more payroll classifications in advertising and graphic arts, The general philsosphy of the course is to sharpen the creative talents of the student, and to develope those talents to the level of meticulous and conscientious craftsmanship. He must at the same time learn reliable dependable work habits vital for job placement and security. To achieve these goals the student faces a concentrated study prnqrarn. The course of study begins with basic concepts and technique developement, and an understanding of monochromatic mediums, After mastering the monochromatic mediums the student moves into the world of color. He learns not only to master the mediums and techniques of color, but also learns the psychology of color. During this time the student is learning to develope control and skill of all the fine art mediums and techniques available to him, He is further learning how to apply them to commercial art and advertising needs and production methods, At this point the artist enters the world of desiqn. Here the students learn to apply and form, the psychology of line, space, design, display, and promotional campaiqns. Teamwork has beco me daily routine for the students. They have come to appreciate the opportunity they have earned. The opportunity to make their living as a working artist, a Commercial Artist. |
