Law in the age of intelligent machines Abstract The introductory part of this PhD thesis outlines the issues that are further discussed in more detail in further parts of the thesis. The thesis is divided into three main parts, which are further subdivided into chapters and subchapters. Each part contains a partial conclusion where the findings of that part are summarized. The thesis is then concluded with a conclusion which further complements and develops the partial conclusions from the three main parts of the thesis. The first part of the thesis deals with the concept of artificial intelligence. Thus, the first chapter summarizes the basic definitions of this concept, which are used both in computer science and in law. In the second chapter, the thesis deals with the explanation of the concept of intelligence in general and its different dimensions. On this basis, the concept of intelligence is then distinguished from other similar concepts such as mind, thinking or wisdom. In the third chapter of the first part, the concept of artificial intelligence is viewed through the lens of selected legal regulations, namely Czech law, EU law and selected foreign legislation, especially from the USA.
