Popis: The thesis titled Analysis of Media Coverage of Sports during the 2024 Olympic Games on the websites Sport.cz and iRozhlas.cz focuses on the portrayal of sports and related topics on selected online platforms. It examines editorial strategies applied in the coverage and explores the differences between reporting in a commercial and a public service medium. The research combines a quantitative analysis of 666 articles on the Sport.cz website and 187 articles on the iRozhlas.cz website with findings from semi-structured interviews conducted with representatives of both media. The results showed that the primary factor influencing the selection of sports in both newsrooms was the participation of Czech athletes and their chances of success. The greatest media attention was devoted to medal-winning sports - athletics, canoeing, and tennis. The study also reveals differences in the use of emotionally coloured headlines, genre profiles of the outputs, and the nature of relationships between the media and athletes in commercial and public service journalism. The findings suggest that the media portrayal of sports during the Olympic Games is not merely a reflection of sporting reality but is significantly shaped by editorial decisions, the character of the medium, and its relationships with athletes.
