Description: The analysis of the historical stratification of Trapani's salt flats and its territorial connections highlights the need to go beyond the implementation of projects limited to the restoration and conservation of individual elements. Trapani's salt flats connote the territory both for the complexity of the cultivation and transformation spaces and for the territorial relations connected to them. The cultural system of reference that links the salt flats to the territorial heritage and infrastructural elements, although resilient, requires the implementation of emergence processes in order to initiate new effective restoration and enhancement projects. These require a cognitive analysis of the tangible and intangible values of both the salt flats and the cultural system of reference. The reading of the components and their setting into a system, finds in the representation an effective tool for the interpretation, communication and sharing of the connotative characteristics with the owners of this cultural heritage
