Popis: This article considers theoretical provisions of the formation and use of a management information system in the interaction between universities and representatives of business in the conditions of technological progress and usage of AI technologies. The importance of this collaboration is emphasized, its directions and components are characterized, stages of the development of management information systems and the influence of evolution on relationships between universities and business structures are considered, and the potential of AI in the improvement of the level of this cooperation and ensuring a higher level of innovativeness is characterized, the key directions for the influence of AI algorithms on the improvement of collaboration are described. The research methodology is based on the theory of systems that allows the effective study of interaction processes between different subjects. It is based on the analysis of scientific definitions of management information systems (MIS) and university-industry cooperation (UIC) in the context of the concepts of Industry 4.0 and University 4.0. The theoretical framework is based on the theory of knowledge management and the theories of innovations, organizational learning, and stakeholders. General scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, observation, comparison, and generalisation are used. Also, the method of retrospective analysis is utilised to study the evolution of information systems. This article is aimed at determining the features of the formation and usage of management information systems in the interaction between higher education and business in the conditions of the development of AI. The paper has a scientific and applied value due to its characterising the stages of the development of management information systems in the context of collaboration between universities and business and identifies advantages offered by AI to improve this cooperation, proving the importance of this direction for the development of MIS and describing its prospects.
