| Popis: | the pre-existing infrastructure of roads and aqueducts. Its strategic location near the South Pacific, initially considered safe from rival european powers of the Spanish Empire, became threatened by coastal attacks, prompting the construction of a wall in the 17th century. This fortification symbolized the city's defense and defined its urban growth. This research aims to identify the original viceregal layout hidden among the streets and blocks of modern-day Lima, as well as to project the path of the viceregal wall onto the contemporary city. The goal is to recognize remnants of the wall, explaining its construction logic and the military architectural materials of european defensive design adapted to the South American Pacific context. To achieve this, photogrammetry will be used for urban surveys, along with a geographic information system (GIS) for the georeferencing of cartographic information and historical plans. This will enable the precise establishment and validation of the existence of old layouts, uncovering the history and memory of the city, discovering hidden structures and designs, and facilitating their restoration. Additionally, it will support archaeological efforts to recover the history of viceregal Lima’s architecture and urban planning. |
