Popis: The article is devoted to identifying the relationship between personal anxiety and intellectual abilities of adults. The sample included adults aged 18 to 40 years (n = 75). Data collection was carried out using the following methods: Ch. Spielberger Anxiety Scale (adapted by Yu. L. Khanin); Taylor Anxiety Scale (adapted by V. G. Norakidze); Short Selection Test (adaptation of the Wonderlic Personnel Test, performed by V. N. Buzin); D. V. Lyusin Test of Emotional Intelligence. The results of the study, obtained through correlation analysis of the data, showed that there is no relationship between personal anxiety and the integral indicator of general abilities, while, on the contrary, there is a relationship between personal anxiety and some indicators of emotional intelligence. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that personal anxiety destructively manifests itself mainly in the field of communication, since an increase in its level is accompanied by a decrease in emotional intelligence.
