Beschreibung: In June 2021, the private company TerraPower, in partnership with electric utility PacifiCorp and the United States Department of Energy (DOE) via its Advanced Reactor Demonstration Program (ARDP), announced plans to site its Natrium advanced nuclear reactor near the retiring Naughton coal-fired power plant in Kemmerer, located in southwest Wyoming. This project marks the first commercial advanced nuclear energy facility to begin construction in the United States. This brief summarizes our Radiating Justice Map Prototype and chapter in a longer Cultural History report and visualizes historical cases relevant to environmental justice across the nuclear fuel cycle and in relative geographic proximity to Kemmerer, WY. Through this effort, we 1) identified, documented, and analyzed environmental justice aspects of relevant statewide and regional historical nuclear cases, and 2) developed an interactive storymap to spatially visualize these cases.
