| Popis: | This article considers how to teach terminology to translators with a view to equipping them with the knowledge to navigate the myriad terminology search strategies brought about by digital technology. Our hypothesis is that, to put these tools to good use when conducting terminology searches, future translators will have to: (1) learn not to be dependent on them and always rely on their common sense to obtain convincing results, regardless of the assistance that technology offers, (2) draw a clear distinction between the terminological approach and the act of translation, at a time when extensive parallel corpora that are sometimes highly disparate can be searched not only as a means of finding pre-existing material in the target language, but also to conduct searches on non-terminological sequences, (3) understand the specific characteristics of comparative terminological searches in two languages, namely a cross-checking of the concept in the source and target languages, from which derives a methodological criterion used to assess the soundness of the search strategies available to them.
