| Description: | This paper investigates the process of human resource management in private post-basic schools for learners’ academic progress in the Kumbotso Local Government area of Kano State. A descriptive survey research design was used in this study; two objectives were formulated and transformed into research questions and two null hypotheses to guide the conduct of the study. The required sample size of 135 represents 40% of 338 principals as the target population relying on the research advisor's 2006 table of population and sample were the units of analysis. A self-designed questionnaire titled “Questionnaire for the Process of Human Resources Management for Learners’ Academic Progress (QPHRMLAP) was used to gather data. The two sections of the instrument with eleven items (11) were adequately validated by the two experts from the Department of Educational Foundations and the Department of Psychology in the Federal College of Education (Technical) Bichi. The observations raised were amended, and the instrument was found valid for the conduct of the research. The reliability P-value of 0.78 in section A and 0.81 in section B with a total value of 0.80 using Cronbach Alpha through the SPSS 27 model, the instrument was found strong for this study. The response to the items was structured using the rating scale of SA (4) points, A (3) points, D (2) points, and SD (1) points respectively. Mean and rank order statistic were used to answer the two research questions, while Z-test statistics were used to test the hypotheses at a 0.005 level of significance with a criterion mean of 2.50. Among the findings was the proper recruitment of teachers with relevant teaching skills and performance management encouraged through concurrent supervision and an adequate supply of needed teaching materials is at the forefront; these, among others, were the findings of this paper. The paper also recommended, among others, the need for the government to be involved in appointing principals for proper instructional leadership. |
