| Abstract: |
The article looks at the development of the Simulation of Infected Corals (SICO) based on the dynamics and impact of coral disease white plague on the forereefs of Little Cayman at Cayman Islands. The basic units of SICO are coral colonies that occupy a space on a two-dimensional grid. A genetic algorithm from the Java Genetic Algorithms Package was used to estimate disease parameters. Results show the effect of changes in disease parameters on changes in coral cover due to disease. The need to understand susceptibility variation by species is stressed. |
