Abstrakt: The article discusses the importance of coding and marking technologies to the food and beverage packaging industry. These technologies are improving code quality to enable easier human and machine readability which is essential to implementing and or automating a traceability program to help improve food safety. Also discussed is the popularity of two-dimensional (2-D) Data Matrix on both the primary and secondary packaging fronts due to the large amount of information that can fit within a small marking area.
