In this article the authors examine what lessons individuals in the business world can learn from metaphors and similes that are related to theater and drama. The authors examine the concept of playing the leader as an actor would. They note that a successful leader and actor will hit their marks, work well with others and deliver their lines in a way that strikes their audiences. Conversely, they examine what a poor leader and actor does and how this can hurt the organization or production. They discuss the importance of communication in effective leadership and note that an effective leader will be able to convince a speculative audience that what they're saying is right. Overall they assert that authenticity is the most important aspect of leading and acting. |
