Abstract: The article examines the ways and methodological approaches to teaching computer science in higher education institutions. Teaching computer science at the higher education level is carried out through various pedagogical methods and technologies in order to form the theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students. The article also touches upon the issues of interactive methods, project-based learning, laboratory and practical tasks, as well as the application of modern information and communication technologies in the teaching process. The article also comments on the existing problems in teaching computer science and programming in higher education institutions of our country and ways to solve them. The methods used in article are mainly related to qualitative and quantitative research, practical learning approaches and the application of pedagogical technologies. Teaching computer science in higher education institutions requires the application of various methods and approaches. In addition to traditional methods the application of modern pedagogical technologies, digital resources, practically oriented tasks and project-based learning in the teaching process is of particular relevance. This article analyzes the ways of teaching computer science in higher education institutions' existing problems and directions for their solution from a scientific and pedagogical point of view.
