An advanced dual-core photonic crystal fiber (DC-PCF) sensor for the detection of gasoline compounds has been constructed utilizing silica as its substrate material. The sensor features a central elliptical analyte channel surrounded by the concentric circular air holes in the cladding. The introduced PCF is designed to operate within the 2–3 µm wavelength range; its performance was evaluated utilizing the finite element method in COMSOL Multiphysics. The sensor demonstrates remarkable wavelength sensitivities of 24,761.66 nm/RIU for 2-methylpentane (x-polarization) and 24,547.8 nm/RIU for 2-methylbutane (y-polarization). Further, the maximum recorded amplitude sensitivities of 11,264.87 RIU⁻1 and 18,137.88 RIU⁻1 were recorded for the same analytes and respective polarizations. These results highlight the sensor's high sensitivity to the refractive index changes, along with its compact structure and fabrication simplicity, rendering it very attractive for future applications in gasoline sensing.
