Abstrakt: This text explores the anti-gender mobilisation initiatives by certain representatives of the Catholic hierarchy within the Czech media between 2010 and 2022. Drawing from contemporary sociological studies, it recognises anti-gender phenomena as interdisciplinary and transnational. Through an analysis of Czech case studies, the text highlights parallels with other European contexts, such as the utilisation of homophobic and conspiratorial rhetoric, while also noting significant differences, particularly the limited audience in a predominantly secular Czech society. By addressing the portrayal of the Catholic Church concerning issues of homophobia and gender inequality, it posits that the current landscape—where concerned women and minorities are often underrepresented in discussions about the church—reflects broader structural challenges tied to clericalism and hierarchicalism. It calls for meaningful dialogue about the church's public rhetoric to encourage further discussion on gender issues within the institution, along with the appropriate use of theological anthropology and communication strategies.
