The main issue of this paper is the question of interaction with art, analysed within the conditions of the ongoing pandemic. It can be assumed that our reality has trully changed into a virtual one, with all the benefits and all the negatives resulting from it. Mainly, direct interaction with art is almost unreal. In this text, it will be argued that the primary and first step in the process of understanding art is the aesthetic attitude, closely connected with aesthetic experience and aesthetic interpretation. This triad of notions can be understood as the universal approach of aesthetic interaction with art, and this has not changed even in the era of “[social] distancing”. The core difficulty lies in the nature of contemporary art, mediated through virtual space, and changed in accordance with the chosen medium. Even if the mentioned triad (aesthetic attitude, aesthetic experience, and aesthetic interaction) is functional and gives us some answer about art, the problem lies in the (emotional, existential) disposition of recipients. This paper will try to review the current situation and attempt to formulate some possibilities regarding interaction with art from a distance in the process of the reception of artwork.
