The author discusses the menu approach to peritext in the classroom. Topics covered include the peritext's importance in creating a book package that audiences might appreciate and make them return later, and the judicious use of production, promotional, navigational, intertextual, and supplemental peritexts. Also noted is the development of a book menu by comparing a dinner menu with a menu of reading choices, and finding out whether students find it palatable. |
