| Abstract (English): |
The article addresses the importance of the Java programming language as critical infrastructure for business-critical applications in large enterprises and highlights the challenges posed by the rising license costs of Oracle Java SE. Ian Whiting, Chief Revenue Officer at Azul, explains that many companies are switching to OpenJDK-based alternatives like Azul Java due to the high costs; these alternatives are fully compatible and significantly more affordable. Azul has specialized in Java for over 20 years and, in addition to cost-efficient licenses, also offers powerful platforms to optimize performance and cloud costs. Despite its age, Java remains a central technology that is continuously developed by the open-source community and will play an important role in business applications in the future.
