Abstract: In recent years, festival-goers have received increasing academic attention due to the rapid development of music festivals. Grounded in emotion cognition theory and the pendulum effect, the study employs Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) and Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (FsQCA) to conduct a systematic empirical analysis of emotional changes among 366 festival-goers. Using music festival atmosphere as the independent variable, flow experience as the mediating variable, and visitor-to-visitor interaction and time fillers as moderating variables, this research explores the mechanisms underlying the sense of loss experienced by festival-goers. The findings not only extend the application of emotion cognition theory and the pendulum effect within the context of music festivals but also provide management implications for festival organisers. Furthermore, through a deep analysis of ‘The Post-music Festival Depression’, it calls for reflection to modern lifestyles, aiming to achieve a healthier, more balanced state of living.
