Abstrakt: The article focuses on the findings of a pilot trial conducted at a medium-sized fluorspar mine in central Mexico, aimed at addressing water scarcity and tailings management through the use of a Flottweg Z5E mining decanter centrifuge. The trial evaluated the centrifuge's performance in water recovery and tailings reduction, emphasizing the importance of optimizing operational parameters for efficiency and scalability. Key objectives included reducing water consumption, minimizing tailings volume, and decreasing environmental impact, all while adhering to mechanical separation methods without the use of polymers. The results indicated that the centrifuge could achieve high clarity in centrate and maintain consistent solid dryness, demonstrating its potential for broader application in mining operations.
