| Abstract: | This study proposes a standardized framework that depicts the CSR process and community contribution when implementing a CSR initiative. Although it is based on the Indian context, the strength of this study lies in its relevance across all industries, cultures, legal frameworks, and geographical locations. Building on a qualitative approach, this study employs the grounded theory method. After interviewing senior/mid‐level managers, we developed a Community Organization Partnership‐led CSR (COPCSR) model. This model indicates two aspects of CSR practice. First, it lays out the stage‐wise process of implementing a CSR initiative. Second, it shows that an organization initiates the process of CSR implementation, along with the participation of the community. Based on the interviews, it is revealed that, eventually, communities get ownership of the CSR initiatives. Therefore, the true essence of its sustenance lies in the hands of the communities with assistance from the organizations. In accordance with the findings of this study, we offer theoretical and practical implications for organizations, researchers, and policymakers. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
