Abstract (English): This study examines the historical development of colonization and colonialism, tracing their transformation from Antiquity and the Roman Empire to the Crusades, the Age of Geographical Discoveries, and modern imperialism. The aim of the study is to demonstrate that colonization is not merely a historical phenomenon but constitutes a central link in the imperialist chain stretching from slavery to globalization. Beginning in the fifteenth century with Portugal and Spain, the wave of colonization continued until the mid-twentieth century with the participation of England, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, Germany, Russia, Japan, and the United States. Simultaneous independence movements paved the way for the emergence of the Third World. The scope of this study is to highlight the historical and socio-economic dimensions of colonialism while emphasizing the persistence of former colonial powers' dominance through the mechanisms of the global economic order. Abstract (Turkish): Bu çalışma, kolonizasyonun ve kolonyalizmin tarihsel gelişimini inceleyerek, Antik Çağ'dan Roma İmparatorluğu'na, Haçlı Seferleri'nden Coğrafi Keşifler'e ve modern emperyalizme uzanan süreçteki dönüşümünü ele almaktadır. Makalenin amacı, kolonizasyonun yalnızca tarihsel bir olgu olmadığını, aynı zamanda kölelikten küreselleşmeye uzanan emperyalist yapının temel halkası olduğunu göstermektir. 15. yüzyıldan itibaren Portekiz ve İspanya'nın öncülüğünde başlayan kolonileşme hareketi, İngiltere, Fransa, Hollanda, Belçika, İtalya, Almanya, Rusya, Japonya ve ABD'nin katılımıyla 20. yüzyıl ortalarına dek sürmüş; eşzamanlı bağımsızlık mücadeleleri ise Üçüncü Dünya'nın doğuşuna zemin hazırlamıştır. Çalışmanın kapsamı, kolonyalizmin tarihsel ve sosyo-ekonomik boyutlarını ortaya koyarak günümüzde de eski kolonyal güçlerin küresel ekonomi üzerinden sürdürdükleri hâkimiyete dikkat çekmektir.
