| Abstract: |
The article focuses on the severe disruptions to daily life in Kalay Township, Sagaing Region, due to phone and internet outages that began on 13 September. Residents report that while phone calls connect, voices are inaudible, and text messaging has been non-functional for over a week, complicating healthcare and business operations. Some locals have resorted to covertly using Starlink internet, but access remains limited. The outages coincide with ongoing military conflict in the area, leading to speculation about intentional communication cuts, although a local representative attributed the issue to damaged cables. The National Unity Government has condemned these connectivity blackouts as a violation of citizens' rights to information and expression. [Extracted from the article] |
