Abstract (English): This study aims to analyze university planning, examining it from the perspective of its dimensions. Through a systematic review, 1,049 articles were analyzed by titles and abstracts, found in the academic databases Engineering Village, Scopus and Web of Science. Of the 1,049 articles, 911 that did not mention university planning were removed and the remaining 138 were analyzed together with another 24 articles, which resulted from searches in the gray database (Google Scholar). Of the 162 articles read in full, 65 were excluded and the 97 selected indicated the management "tools", strategies and themes most related to university planning. The results revealed eight dimensions (Rational, Sustainability, Quality, Technology, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Sociocultural, Architectural and Internationalization), which can influence university planning. A qualitative analysis of a sample of planning documents from top-notch Brazilian universities was carried out using the content analysis technique to validate the dimensions found in the SLR. Except for the Architectural Dimension, the other dimensions are present in the planning documents of Brazilian universities of excellence. Sustainability was identified as the current frontier in the field of studies on dimensions of university planning, and it was found that universities are including it transversally in their planning documents. Abstract (Portuguese): Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o planejamento nas universidades, examinando-o sob a ótica de suas dimensões. Por meio de uma revisão sistemática de literatura (RSL) foram analisados 1049 artigos, por títulos e resumos, encontrados nas bases acadêmicas Engineering Village, Scopus e Web of Science. Dos 1049 artigos, retirou-se 911 que não faziam menção ao planejamento universitário e os 138 restantes foram analisados em conjunto com outros 24 artigos, que resultaram das buscas na base cinzenta (google scholar). Dos 162 artigos lidos integralmente, 65 foram excluídos e os 97 selecionados indicaram as "ferramentas" de gestão, estratégias e temas mais relacionados com o planejamento das universidades. Os resultados revelaram oito dimensões (Racional, Sustentabilidade, Qualidade, Tecnologia, Empreendedorismo e Inovação, Sociocultural, Arquitetônica e Internacionalização), que podem influenciar o planejamento universitário. Realizou-se uma análise qualitativa de uma amostra de planejamentos de universidades de excelência brasileiras, por meio da técnica de análise de conteúdo, para validar as dimensões encontradas na RSL. Com exceção da Dimensão Arquitetônica, as demais dimensões estão presentes nos planejamentos das universidades de excelência brasileiras. Detectou-se a sustentabilidade como a atual fronteira do campo de estudos sobre dimensões do planejamento universitário e verificou-se que as universidades estão inserindo-a transversamente em seus referidos planejamentos.
