Abstrakt: The article explores the repeated internal divisions within the British Liberal Party between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, showing how defections, ideological disputes, and strategic disagreements weakened the party and facilitated the rise of the Labour Party. Topics include the impact of party splits on political strength, the emergence of the Liberal National faction; and the organizational and electoral consequences of internal fragmentation.
