A study on the taxonomic characters that have been used to distinguish the different species of Bruchidius encompassed in the biguttatus group, present in the fauna of the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal), Balearic Islands, and Canary Islands. Taxonomic and biological heterogeneity of the species integrated in this group is discussed, and some criteria are provided for a new characterization of this group, including new species. The morphological analysis concludes with the strength of some characters for three of the four species, leaving B. niger with less affinity towards the remaining species of the group. Se realiza un estudio sobre los caracteres taxonómicos que se han venido utilizando para distinguir las diferentes especies de Bruchidius englobadas en el grupo biguttatus, presentes en la fauna de la península ibérica (España y Portugal), islas Baleares e islas Canarias. Se discute la heterogeneidad taxonómica y biológica de las especies integradas en este grupo, y se aportan algunos criterios para una nueva caracterización de este grupo, al incluir nuevas esepecies. El análisis morfológico concluye con la fortaleza de algunos caracteres para tres de las cuatro especies, quedando B. niger con menor afinidad hacia las restantes especies del grupo.
