Abstract: The article examines the methodological challenges in literary animal studies through critical analysis of three essays published within the issue. Topics include the terminological challenges in representing human-animal relationships within climate fiction narratives, creative historical approaches to interpreting archival scarcity regarding therapeutic animals in mental institutions, and metonymy's role in expressing interspecies kinship through modernist literature and phenomenology.
