The article focuses on the responses to Pope Clement XI's 1713 papal bull *Unigenitus* at the Benedictine Faculty of Theology in Salzburg and Lambach Abbey, highlighting the theological landscape and the influence of Jansenism in the region. It discusses the initial lack of controversy surrounding *Unigenitus* in Salzburg, where the university maintained a strong Thomistic tradition and loyalty to the papacy, contrasting with the emergence of Jansenist ideas around 1740. The article examines the theological profiles of three prominent monks from Lambach Abbey—Benedikt Oberhauser, Amand Greth, and Maurus Lindemayr—each of whom engaged with Enlightenment thought and Jansenist literature in varying degrees, illustrating the complexity of theological discourse in the period. The findings suggest that theological ideas were transmitted through diverse channels beyond universities, including student culture, sodalities, and theatrical performances.
