In this research paper, a novel modified gorilla troops optimizer (mGTO) algorithm has been proposed, which is an improved approach to the original technique of gorilla troops optimizer (GTO). The obtained results demonstrate the efficiency and potential of the mGTO algorithm in real-world optimization challenges. The mGTO algorithm not only improves solution quality but also reduces implementation time compared to the traditional GTO algorithm. A proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller incorporates the principles of gorilla troop optimization to effectively optimize the controller parameters. As a growing number of renewable energy sources are used in distributed power systems, controlling frequency is becoming increasingly important. The traditional methods for frequency control may not be efficient in handling the variability and intermittency of renewable energy sources. This approach has been proven to outperform conventional PID controllers in frequency control, making it a valuable tool for regulating the frequency of a distributed power generation system with a higher percentage of renewable energy penetration.
