| Abstract: |
Nan Coffin, a studio potter based in San Diego, California, has found ways to work smarter and not harder in her 270-square-foot studio. She utilizes damp boxes to store greenware pots and places studio equipment on casters for easy movement. Coffin has also invested in lightweight kiln shelves to reduce the physical strain of lifting. She emphasizes the importance of eliminating activities that drain energy and focusing on what brings joy. Coffin's work is influenced by her experiences traveling to Ecuador and observing indigenous potters. She creates functional pots with brightly colored surfaces and incorporates thin linework. Coffin sells her work through galleries and her home studio, and she participates in the annual San Diego Pottery Tour. [Extracted from the article] |
