Abstract Programming assignment source code plagiarism detection is one of the important challenges in intelligent education. This paper provides an overview of program detection techniques in this field, reviews the related literature, and describes detection methods used over the past five years in terms of source code similarity and changes in coding behavioral features, based on the data and analysis direction relied upon for detection. Finally, it analyzes existing problems and challenges in the field and outlines future research directions.
