Description
Summary:Most recently, the major proportion of transporta-tion sector utilizes fossil fuels. Burning of fossil fuels adds massive amount of carbon in the atmosphere. Moreover, the fossil fuels reserves are depleting and their prices are also fluctuating. In addition, new environmental policies are also being made to reduce carbon emissions. So, electrification of the transportation sector is essential to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. This paper proposes an improved method of assembling an electric drive system. A variable frequency drive (VFD) is implemented to drive a three-phase (3φ) induction motor using battery bank. The sinusoidal pulse width modulation (SPWM) technique is used to implement the VFD. To make the system more efficient a regenerative braking mechanism is used. In addition, a solar panel is also used to supply the auxiliary loads.
